Magazine profile:
Since its appearance in 1997 2G has made a name for itself internationally as a quality magazine of enormous prestige. Its expert choice of published themes, rigorous editorial treatment, and careful and attractive graphic design are some of the basic ingredients that have contributed to 2G's international fame.
2G offers wide-ranging monographic issues devoted to the recent work of a major contemporary architect, and to particular aspects of the work of the great masters of modern architecture.
Each issue is introduced by one or more texts by critics of international renown, who analyse and comment on the buildings making up the central section of the number. This section usually depicts, with a great profusion of illustrations and architectonic documentation, 10-15 works of the architect or the featured subject. Each issue includes unpublished works and always offers new photo-essays.
The final section, called nexus, depicts other aspects related to the work on show in texts by the architects themselves or by reputed critics. This section offers the reader the chance to find out about not just the buildings per se, but also the architects' views on their own work and on architectural practice in general by means of texts expressly written for this publication.

10th Anniversary
In 2007 2G celebrates its tenth anniversary. On the occasion of this, some architects have given their opinion on the magazine:
"Between the past and the present, reality is highly complex and infinitely rich nowadays. Reading it increasingly requires a form of mediation, a frame. A magazine is a selective gamble. 2G has managed to run the risk of going beyond the obvious, to extend its editorial choice and to reflect, in our own time, a recent and renowned history of its own. I am grateful to those horizonts, open or simply evinced."
Manuel Aires Mateus
"Congratulations for 10th anniversary!
Once a piece of architecture is built it will stand for a hundred years or more. Thats why I always keep in mind that we shouldnt create architecture influenced by transient trends. In that sense, I highly appreciate 2G, which never follows changing fashions and has dealt with matters of substance. I also enjoy 2Gs the interesting layout, which finds a balance between project concepts, drawings and photographs.
I hope 2G will go on giving us high-quality information for the future of architecture."
Tadao Ando
"2G is searching for an architecture beyond the "global design party". Therefore 2G constantly questions our profession, where its going, what its moving .... Congratulations!"
Burkhalter Sumi Architekten
"I feel great admiration and respect for 2Gs distinguished style, which has never been lost. All of the articles are carefully composed, full of beauty and sensitivity. One can see their profound affection and acute critique of the works of architects. I am sure that this reflects the great spirit of the publishing house."
Toyo Ito
"During these last ten years the magazine 2G has filled in depth the gaps left by other media and has gifted us a handful of visits to the buildings and projects of different architects in which many of we readers feel the proximity of an anonymously shared surprise... "
Mansilla Tun
"2G fills a space, a necessary one dedicated in a calm, reflexive and profound way to landmarks and episodes of contemporary architecture, being practically the only architecture magazine published in Barcelona to maintain continuity and interest."
Josep M Montaner
Dominique Perrault
"For Jonathan and I the publication of 2G on our work contributed to a turning point in the development of our office. The publication has exposed our work to a wide audience and the quality and reputation of the series has certainly contributed to an increase of interest (and respect) for our work within the European architectural context. The combination of well printed photographs and drawings and written analysis and architectural criticism, laid out within a clear and bilingual graphic structure, provides the opportunities for invited architects to present their work in a fully rounded way. This format makes 2G unique and therefore valuable."
